Well it appears that were off to a good winter. The snow is falling and piling up in the mountains and in town. The State, County and City have been busy taking care of the highways and streets making it easier for all of us to get around. I appreciate all their hard work. With that in mind I would like to remind everyone about City Code 8-1-5 Snow and Sleet Removal. The City ordinance states that the owner, tenant, lessee, occupant, or any other agent of said property, house or other building abutting on any paved or unpaved sidewalk, path, or other walkway available to pedestrians, must remove the snow and sleet from the sidewalk. The ordinance states that this must be done within one hour after the snow and sleet has stopped falling. If it snows between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. then the snow and sleet must be removed by 9:00 a.m. the following day. The snow and sleet should not be pushed into the roadway, but into the gutter allowing the snow equipment to come and by and properly remove it. Well will see how the winter continues this year and how must snow accumulation we get. So as the winter progresses please make sure you take of those sidewalks and paths so pedestrians can be safe as they walk our city streets.
