 ABOUT THE SHOW
Pastor Suzanne Calhoun of The Ely United Methodist Church has been hard at work for the past three months preparing a handful of Ely’s children to perform Dickens Christmas Carol. You won’t want to miss a heart warming performance and an opportunity to support a great cause.
Anyone with children in Ely will appreciate this type of positive program for our community. The performance has one more night, Saturday December 9th, you don’t want to miss it! Your ticket purchase will go towards keeping this valuable program running and you’ll even get to enjoy some complimentary refreshments during the intermission.
Our Founder Emeritus, Pastor Keith Groben had a chance to ask the director of the children’s theater some questions:
WPL: What motivated you to start the Children’s theater group?
Pastor Suzanne: The Ely Children’s Community Theater began 4 years ago to raise money to fight malaria in third world countries. The first production was put together in 3 months by about 30 students and five adults and the generous support of the Ely United Methodist Church in the Ely Elks Lodge.
WPL: Do you have room to accept more children into your group?
Pastor Suzanne: Yes, we have more room for actors, stage hands and anyone who would like to help.
WPL: What would you like people to know about your program?
Pastor Suzanne: It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to experience theater in a small town that they wouldn’t otherwise have access to.
The Ely Community Children’s Theater is currently holding auditions for their upcoming performance of CATS which will be performed in March.
